This week its lots of fun stuff to do with a bevy of things on the first Friday of the month. No April Fools here, just good times! Check out all sorts of fun events going on right in your backyard!

First Friday at the Charles Schultz Museum

The first Friday of each month at the museum is special because they showcase a favorite film of the late Charles Schultz in his theatre. This month the showingis a classic: Harold and Maude (1971), which is a bit of an odd comedy about life and death. It starts at 7 p.m. Cost: free for members and $3 general admission. What a deal!

Hiking at Tolay Lake Regional Park

I love a good sunset hike. This Friday there will be a ranger led hike at sunset along the West Ridge of Tolay Regional Park. The weather should be beautiful to enjoy a nice hike and great sunset. The hike starts at 5:30 p.m. and there is a $6 parking fee. The hike will be fairly easy paced and good for all ages. Call 707-789-9644 for more information.

Pick of the Vine

A great local food and wine gala is going on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Building in Santa Rosa, starting at 6 p.m. There will be food and wine from over 50 wine road-Northern Sonoma County vintners. There will be great food, wine and even live music. Later in the evening a live and silent auction will be held for collector wines, specialty items and even some art. Tickets are $55 in advance or $60 at the door. Proceeds benefit longterm care for seniors. If you enjoy wine and good food as well as benefitting a good cause you should swing on by.

Bodega Bay

The weather should be pretty nice this weekend so why not drive out to Bodega? Whales are still on the move along the coast (Bodega Head is a great spot to watch from). Seal pups can be found around goat rock and are always entertaining. Also there are some awesome tide pools during low tide at Schoolhouse and Shell beaches. Wildflowers are even blooming along the Bodega Head Loop Trail, a nice easy walk. Fish 'n' chips and taffy are in abundance in town if you get hungry.

Wild Oats at Spreckels

This is the last weekend for the wildly popular old west play ‘Wild Oats’ Saddle up your horse and ride over to Spreckels and sit a spell. Carl Hamilton directs this yarn by James McLure. The plays' roots goes back almost 200 years and has most recently been invigorated with an old west theme. The show runs on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Rock 'N' Roll at Sonoma State

Rock n Roll is a play by Tom Stoppard is also playing its last shows this weekend. This mash-up of music and words is directed by Paul Draper and performed by the students of Sonoma State University. One reason this play was chosen was to expose the students to material that is cultural as well as political. The final shows are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for more information about weekend events at Sonoma State and how to get tickets.
