Five Things You Need to Know This Week: May 23 – May 29

Special blood donation, the Business Showcase and much more!

1. A special Blood Drive starts Monday at Evergreen Elementary School to help honor the life of , who was a teacher at the school. The Bloodmobile will be in the school parking lot from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sign up to donate by stopping by the school office or registering online at the Blood Bank of the Redwoods.

2. This week is finals week at . What does this mean to non college studetns? It means watch out for those tired and wired students as they try to navigate the last week of school. More than likely they won’t be thinking as much about things like walking, biking, or driving as much as you would hope so be careful!

3. The  is hosting their 2011 this Thursday at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park. Stop on by from 5 to 7 p.m. to peek at some of the local business interests. The event is free and a good way to learn more about what the community has to offer.

4. Memorial Day Weekend is sneaking up on us faster than ever! Please make sure to remember our fallen soldiers and those many brave people who have protected us over the generations. City offices, library, schools and many businesses will be closed next Monday so plan accordingly. Also don’t forget about the annual Memorial Day sporting event, the Indy 500!!

5. is a German word that means ‘prison camp’ and number 17 was located somewhere along the Danube river. This play being performed at  Thursday through Sunday this week. The play is set back in the '50s and is the tale of a group of American airmen who have been captured during World War II. Much like the Great Escape, this is considered one of the best prisoner of war stories. Tickets are $21 for adults, $19 for seniors, and $8 for students with ID. Call 707-588-3400 for tickets, or visit the box office at 5409 Snyder Ln., Rohnert Park. Box office hours: Tuesday through Saturday from noon - 5 p.m. and one hour before performances.
