Five Things You Need to Know This Week: Jan. 9-15

Nice weather and fun stuff this week!

1. Lets Talk about the Weather! Rain? Not a chance for us this week. Expect a mix of mostly sunny forecasts for this week. Meteorologists are reporting the temperatures should hit the mid-60s — for more wonderful afternoons that feel nothing like winter with chilly low's in the mid to low 30s.   • Winter Break is over for the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District, so traffic and schedules will go back to normal.
  • Dodgeball! Adult dodgeball registration opens Monday for play at Callinan Sports and Fitness Center. Go here for more information
  • At the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regaional Library, regular kids programs are back on schedule this week, with Wiggle Time at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Read to a Dog from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, and Pre-School Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Also the library will be closed on Saturday in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
  • The Harlem Globetrotters are coming to Santa Rosa Thursday, Jan. 12 to play some round ball. The game starts at 7 p.m. at Haehl Pavilion at Santa Rosa Junior College.
  • Circus Moon will be providing live music on Thursday night from 9 to 11 at North Light Books & Cafe in Cotati. The classic rock band plays both original sets and covers.

  • Monday of next week is the Martin Luther King Day holiday.

5.  Patch Tip of the Week: For those embarking on a New Year's exercise resolution the tip is moderation! Rome wasn't built in a day. Starting off too quickly can lead to injury and muscle strains as well as a loss of motivation. Make sure to stretch well before and after any exercise to help the body prepare and recover quickly. Also taking aspirin or ibuprofen after hard sessions can hasten the healing process.
