Five Things You Need to Know This Week: Feb. 28 – March 6

Let's talk about the weather, folk dancing and more!

1. Well that big storm that was supposed to drop snow never materialized, but on the bright side, it has been clear skies all weekend! That trend will continue on Monday and Tuesday but the temperatures should be brisk at best. Rain is expected to return sometime Wednesday and Thursday with a slight reprieve on Friday before a big storm rolls in over the weekend — so get your outdoor stuff done early this week!

2.  The Bringham Young University International Folk Dance Ensemble will perform a single show this week at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center. On Wednesday, March 2, starting at 7 p.m., folk dancers will bring what the group calls "the rich traditions of a myriad of cultures throughout the world." This is one of those rare opportunities to see an exciting live show in our local theatre and the tickets are only $20 (available at the Spreckles Box Office).

3. There is a full calendar of events for young readers at the this week. Monday features preschool story time for 3-5 year-olds, at 10:30 a.m. Wiggle Time for the 1-2-year-olds is on Tuesday, starting at 10:30 as well. Then we have the Readers of the Pack program on Wednesday and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. both days. That's a program where young readers to practice with a faithful canine. A great selection of opportunities for parents to get those kids into books at the library!

Then on Wednesdays at the Veterans Building in Santa Rosa they have the weekly Santa Rosa Farmer’s Market from 8:30 a.m. to noon. These are some great outdoor events to enjoy good food and fresh air.

5. Time for a little art at night! The Cotati Art Night is this Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Willow Room in Cotati (216 East School Street). This show is for people of all ages and experience to practice and learn with a skilled instructor and work with other artists. There is a $5 materials fee.
