County Judge Challenges Environmental Review for Rohnert Park Wal-Mart Expansion

The issue has been wrought with controversy in Rohnert Park since the project's beginning two years ago.

A Sonoma County judge ruled Thursday that there are significant problems in the environmental review for the expansion Rohnert Park's Wal-Mart to include a grocery store, the Press Democrat is reporting today.

The problems center around traffic congestion and noise pollution, said Judge Rene Chouteau, the article stated.

Critics of the big-box expansion, including the Sierra Club and Sonoma County Conservation Action, filed the lawsuit in September after the Rohnert Park City Council OK'd the project, asserting that councilmembers did not have the authority to approve the project.
