Several cast members of Healdsburg's successful first have joined together to create a new Latin dance festival in Sonoma County in September.
The inaugural "Wine Country Salsa and Bachata Festival 2012" will run Sept. 14-16 with the all-day workshops, performance show, and dancing to live band at the Finley Center in Santa Rosa on Saturday, Sept 15.
"Pre-party on Friday night (14th) at a special location and on Sunday (16th) we'll complete the Wine County experience with a Tardiada with social dancing and wine tasting at a location yet to be disclosed," said
Harvey is helping to coordinate the festival with host Jose Santamaria, of JAS Dance Academy in Santa Rosa. at the and will be one of the dancing "Pro's" in this year's event on Nov. 9 and 10.
"We are really looking forward to having him as a contestant!," Harvey said of Santamaria's participation in the November event.
Another "Dancing" cast member, Lauralie Staley, will perform during the festival. Staley, the professional dance partner for Sonoma County Supervisor Efren Carrillo
"We decided that Sonoma County really needed its own Latin dance festival and who better to put it together than Jose!," Harvey said. "He lives his life through his motto, 'Community Unity through Dance.'"
Harvey noted the Latin festival "will be amazing!," she said. "We have champion dance teams, world renowned instructors, and international performers you don't want to miss."
