However, industrial and retail vacancies have come down over the past year

Office vacancies continue to be a problem for Rohnert Park, with a whopping 45 percent of offices in the city without a tenant, according to a recent report by real estate company Keegan & Coppin.

The report looked at vacancies for the fourth quarter of 2012 in Rohnert Park/Cotati, Petaluma and Santa Rosa.

Despite the dour news for office parks, some improvements have been made in filling up industrial properties, with just 8.9 percent vacant compared to 12 percent at the same time a year ago. Retail vacancies are also down to 8 percent from 9.9 percent at the start of 2012.

Marmot Mountain, which makes premium outdoor gear, helped fill some of the vacancies when it expanded its local production plant by to a 43,00 sq. foot space on State Farm Drive earlier this year.
