Four-Dollar Gas Looms for North Bay Drivers

The average price of a gallon of regular gas in Rohnert Park is rising

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Sonoma County County is inching closer to $4, a price much of the rest of California is already paying.

The average price of regular gasoline in California jumped 22.8-cents in the past week to a statewide average of $3.904, according to the state Energy Almanac.

The Wall Street Journal reported the average price at the pump in the San Francisco area was $3.93 earlier this week, up 21 cents from late January. The price of a gallon of gas has already topped $4 in Southern California, averaging $4.03 on Tuesday, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

The spike in gas prices was traced back to the usual suspects: refinery problems, high crude prices and the costs of converting production lines to California's summer gas blend, the Mercury News reported.

In Rohnert Park, the cheapest gas is at Costco ($3.81 on Friday morning). Most gas stations were still pricing fuel around $3.85 Friday morning, which is slightly below the state average, according to Gasbuddy.com.

Below are some of the best gas prices available in Rohnert Park according to Gasbuddy.com.

  • Costco, 5901 Redwood Dr. Regular: $3.81 Premium: $3.99

We can thank this presitdent for the worst engery plan ever get used to it when you push green engery at the expense of fuel engery this is the result. We should not be surprised he stated this to be his plan. The only way to make green engery seem like a good idea is to make other engery look like a bad idea and $6 a gallon gas would do that.

Thank You Obama. He is leading us down the yellow brick road to Socialism. One way or another, he will screw us all in the next four years.

Please people...it's not Obama's fault..quit drinking the kool-aid In 2012 the biggest export of the US was fuel products, it was a record year! Now imagine if some of that supply had stayed in this country...yeah, prices would have been lower...it's not a supply and demand issue...the Oil companies don't care about US consumers..they only care about money and their stockholders.. So blame the Oil companies... capitalism, the American public who keeps voting for the same idiots in government year after year...and who keeps voting to raise taxes...

The elitest and very powerful Environmental Groups have had a major influence on the gasolene market in California. That's what they want - high gas prices to hurt you all so that they get to run the energy business thier way. No new refineries in CA for the last 30 years. Specially formulated gasolene that has to be trucked from Texas refineries. Stop Alaska drilling. Stop shale oil recovery in the Central Valley. Stop the Canadian pipeline. It's not the Oil Companies folks. They just add the costs to what they refine and if they don't have enough to deliver from Chevron/Richmond, it comes from Texas. Get the facts people. Robert Aherne

This is not Obama's fault, the world is run on big bisinuss, particurlary Big Oil. Big Oil has the money and power to pay off or kill anyone or any group who seriously threatens their evil tactics. If Obama used his clout to shut down Big Oil for biodeisel, solar or any other form of more fuel efficient sources, he, his wife and kids would be killed. The only way to stop high gas prices is not to drive, this includes myself.

Exactly!

Big Oil is the state run crude oil producers in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Venezuela, Mexico, indonesia and Canada, all who ship the crude oil to America as requested. The USA oil cos., Chevron, Exxon, Texaco are basically the ones who buy the crude oil and refine it into gasolene for shipment to your local gas station and to you. The American Oil cos you so dispise are distributors of gasolene and deisel that you want for your car. Simple as that. Crude oil prices are determined by the international oil market eg, OPEC - not here in the USA. Can you get it? Bob Aherne
