57th Annual Enmanji Buddhist Temple Teriyaki Barbecue and Bazaar

Celebrate Japanese culture at the 57th Annual Teriyaki Barbecue and Bazaar on Sunday July 10, from 10AM-5PM. This free admission event which attracts thousands of people each year will be held at The Enmanji Buddhist Temple at 1200 Gravenstein Hwy. South, in Sebastopol.
This event features Teriyaki, Ikebana, Bonsai and Taiko. The first public Japanese barbecue fundraiser Enmanji’s, is considered by many to be the grandfather of Bay Area teriyaki barbecues. Other available delicacies include imagawa yaki (sweeten bean-filled pastry), sushi, and kushi yaki.
Other cultural highlights are a bonsai display by the Redwood Empire Bonsai Society, Ikebana flower arranging demonstration and sale, and an extensive outdoor plant sale. Martial arts demonstrations and two afternoon Taiko performances by Sonoma County Taiko will take place at 12:30PM and 4PM.
The Enmanji Buddhist community was first organized in 1926. Its main worship hall was originally built by the Manchurian Railroad Company and used as part of their exhibit hall at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933.
Proceeds from the Teriyaki Barbecue and plant sales will support Enmanji Buddhist Temple community activities. The cost for the teriyaki chicken barbecue is $11 and can be eaten at the festival or as drive-through take-out.
