Eat Local: Cin City Burgers

What makes a killer burger? How about a third pound of fresh Angus beef, smothered in cheddar cheese, onion rings and some barbecue sauce? 

That's just one style of burger offered up at Cin City Burgers — Rohnert Park's newest burger joint owned and operated by a local whose commitment to giving back is as important as serving up great food.

When you hear that the name of a restaurant is Cin City you might be inclined to think it is named after the sinfully delicious food. Perhaps it's a biblical reference to one of the seven deadly sins. Or is could just be that the owner, Cindy Corcoran, is always called "Cin" by her friends.

“When we decided on Cin City my friends said you have to go for a Vegas theme!," Corcoran said. "I thought, 'hey I like to gamble!'” 

From there Cin City Burgers was born.

A sign near the register states that “friends and family gather here.” The vibe of this restaurant is exactly that. Whether it is the friendly staff, the comfortable interior or the smiling face of the owner, it really is a good place to gather.

Corcoran, who's lived in Rohnert Park since 1975 — when she remembers that Exchange Bank was still in a trailer — started her first business in 1987.

Corcoran says her deli truck — a type of food truck that have become wildly popular throughout Sonoma County today — was one of the first in the area.

“That was great. We had that truck for 14 years until we sold the business,” she said. 

Citing an urge to want to be her own boss, Corcoran opened Cin City.

“We picked this location (University Square Center) because there are no burger places nearby and it is close to the college as well as the high school,” she said.

But Corcoran quickly admitted that they haven’t seen as large a crowd from the high school students as hoped.

“We use fresher food and ingredients which costs a little more. Mainly we get a lot of families and college students,” she said.

The interior in nice and clean with cool Vegas pictures and decorations on the wall including a picture of Cindy with an Elvis impersonator in front of a pink Cadillac. Each of the burgers is named after a casino on the strip.

You've got the Flamingo, a chili cheese burger. Corcoran's namesake burger — the Cin City burger, which is a deep fried beer batter burger, the Mirage, a blue cheese burger and the Luxor — a burger with avocado, jack cheese and bacon — amongst many others.

The menu also traditional American fare like fries, shakes and hot dogs, along with sweet potato fries, casino chips and nachos.

Feel free to order food to go, or relax at the tables inside. Don't miss karaoke Wednesdays and Sundays. And, Tuesdays Corcoran often hosts "dine and donate," which is a fundraiser for local nonprofits. A portion of each check is donated to the nonprofit of choice.

Cin City Burgers is located at 1451 Southwest Blvd., Rohnert Park. Hours: Monday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
