Brain Freeze Frozen Yogurt Leaving Rohnert Park

Letter to the editor from owner Jeff Schach.

After three years in business in our home town of Rohnert Park, we will be closing our BrainFreeze Yogurt Shop. Oct. 30 will be our last day open.

“BrainFreeze,” the name picked by our son, age 12 at the time, is a local, family-owned and operated business. We are not a franchise. We opened a second store in Petaluma a year after the opening of Rohnert Park.

The Schach family would like to thank our customers and the community for their support. Sandie, who sells real estate and Jeff, who’s a Firefighter in Petaluma, opened BrainFreeze in 2008 as a way to employ local high school and college kids and support local sports teams and other charities.

Unfortunately, in the last few years three additional yogurt shops have opened in Rohnert Park, the winters and summers have been colder, and the “downtown” has not developed as we’d hoped. We’ve loved contributing to our community and supporting local sports and schools.

Within our three years in Rohnert Park, "BrainFreeze" has sponsored eight youth baseball teams, three youth softball teams, conducted over 30 dine-and-donates for local schools, sports, and charities and has hosted four outdoor summer movies. Thanks to all the local businesses that supported us in helping make the movies happen this summer.

Our Petaluma store will remain open and is located in the K-Mart shopping center if you’re ever in the neighborhood. Gift certificates and stamp cards can be redeemed there.

THANK YOU ROHNERT PARK!

The Schach Family
