A Peek Inside the Community: Sweet Pea Children’s Boutique

If you fancy a cozy boutique to shop for new and used clothes for the little ones, you need to take a peek at Sweet Pea.

This week we take a stroll through downtown Cotati. If you take a turn on Charles Street you can find , a cute little store that provides a little bit of everything for babies, toddlers and the younger kiddos.

About the Owner:

Amy Strother has been a longtime fixture in the community. For many years she worked in child education at . After having her second child she decided to make a change in careers to something more flexible to have time with her family. So four years ago she bought Sweet Pea. With her career experience as well as being a mom, owning a kids boutique is right in her comfort zone.

“I like that I can provide a service to the community," she says. "There really aren’t a lot of good places to be able to recycle kids clothing. It’s also nice to have a place my kids can hang out at while I work."

Sweet Pea Children’s Boutique has been in business since 2003. They feature new and gently used clothing, toys, baby gear, maternity clothes and more.

Amy takes the time to look at every item people want to consign before it makes it to the floor to ensure everything meets the standard of “gently used.” Having a consignment store for this niche is a benefit to many parents and it helps recycle a lot of items around the community. Parents earn money on sales and find great deals on some great stuff.

Sweet Pea also sells new items featuring locally designed and crafted merchandise such as Bee Moody Dresses, Simply Sweet Hair Barrettes, Baby Bonnets and more.

“I would so much rather support the local community than bring in mainstream items. I like to think of Sweet Pea as more of a community store,” Amy says.

It is also nice that Sweet Pea is a one-person store.

“A lot of people like that it is always me in here because they know what they are going to get and what they can expect,” she adds.

Location: 15 Charles St. , Cotati or online at Sweet Pea Children's Boutique

Hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
