Weekend Planner: Feb. 3-5

See what is going on in Rohnert Park and nearby this weekend for you to enjoy!

Friday:

New Movie Releases: The movie scene flips a bit from action to adventure and thriller this weekend. "Big Miracle" hits the big screen. The movie is a true story of a family of gray whales trapped by ice in the Arctic Circle and the attempts at rescue by Drew Barrymore's character. "Chronicle" is a sci-fi drama about three high school friends who gain superpowers but are then tested by the darker side of human nature. Lastly, Daniel Radcliffe stars in "The Woman in Black," a period horror movie about a vengeful ghost of a scorned woman that looks very scary. Tickets and show times are available here.

Winter Book Sale: The Friends of the Library are hosting their annual Winter Book Sale this Friday and Saturday. Come out to the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library to find a great deal on books, videos and more at this fundraiser that benefits our local libraries. If you go: The event will be in the meeting room at the library and runs on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Fantasticks: This is the longest running production of any kind in the world. It is the story of a joyful fable of love that combines poetry and theatre into a memorable experience that will enchant any audience with its romantic charm. It is by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt with direction from Matthew Miller and Lucas Sherman. If you go: The performance is Spreckels Performing Arts Center at 5409 Snyder Lane. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $20 for youth or seniors. You can purchase tickets online here.

Crab Feed: The Church of the Oaks is their annual crab feed this weekend! On Friday and Saturday, come enjoy some fantastic food and fun. If you go: Things kick off at 6 p.m. at the Church of the Oaks which is located at the corner of West Sierra and Page streets in Cotati. The cost is from $20 to $45.

Saturday:

Tune In: Studio Gray Presents "Tune In," A Dance Performance. This show features the talented dancers from the Studio Gray Dance & Theater group from Santa Rosa. If you go: The performance is at Spreckels Performing Arts Center at 5409 Snyder Lane. Show times are 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available at the door.

Rock 'n' Roll Detention 2012: The Rincon Valley Education Foundation presents this country/rock show at the Last Day Saloon. This benefit is a night of music and wine tasting. The show features bands including The Coast Pilots, Third Rail Band, and Court N Disaster. If you go: The show is at the Last Day Saloon at 120 Fifth Street in Santa Rosa. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 each (21 and over only).

Sunday:

American Philharmonic Show: The orchestra will perform adventurous and romantic pieces such as Berlioz: The Pirate and Mahler: Symphony No. 5 — Adagietto. If you go: The show is at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts at 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa. The show starts at 3:30 p.m. and tickets are from $20 to $30 with children under 16 only $5.
