Sonoma State University Hosting “Fiddler On The Roof” Auditions

How does Sonoma State University find the best singers, actors and dancers for their musical productions?

That I can tell you in one word: “Tradition.”

Sonoma State University is conducting auditions for the school’s 50th anniversary production of the Bock and Harnick classic, “Fiddler on the Roof.”

The auditions are open to the community to find the best singing, acting and dancing talent that Sonoma County has to offer.

Anyone who is interested in participating is invited to audition on Aug. 25 and 27.

Those who are auditioning should bring two songs and one contemporary monologue. An accompanist will be provided.

There are openings for ten women, eleven men, four specialty male dancers and a mixed chorus.

The auditions will be held on:

Aug. 25, 1-5 pm, Person Theatre - Acting / Singing Auditions

Aug. 25, 6-10 pm, Ives 101 and Ives 80 - Callbacks / Dance Auditions

Aug. 27, 6-7 pm, Person Theatre - Acting / Singing Auditions

Aug. 29, 6-10 pm, Ives 101 and Ives 80 - Additional Callbacks

Aug. 30, 4-8 pm, Ives 101 and Ives 80 - Additional Callbacks

All roles are open and persons of color are encouraged to audition.

The show is a co-production of the departments of music, theatre arts and dance, with performances running on Feb. 6 through Feb. 16, 2014.  

Performances will take place at SSU’s Evert B. Person Theatre under the direction of Lynne Morrow, music, and Adrian Elfenbaum, stage.
