Rohnert Park Weekend Planner: July 7-10

Thursday and Friday:

The Children's Museum of Sonoma County will be bringing the Museum-on-the-Go program to the . This traveling road show, "What's the Matter" includes hands-on activities about how temperatures causes change in matter. The Museum-on-the-Go events give parents and caregivers the opportunity to play and discover science, arts and nature alongside their children. 

If you go: The free program is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the , 6250 Lynne Conde Way in Rohnert Park.

Friday:

This summer, Brain Freeze Frozen Yogurt will be presenting four movies for a family fun outdoor movie extravaganza! The first movie, "Megamind" will be showing tonight. Enjoy some dinner, shopping and fun at the market, then finish your night with this fun outdoor movie.  Get there a little early to park your car, "drive-in" style or find the perfect place for your blanket and chair.

If you go: This free movie event takes place following the Rohnert Park Friday Night Farmers Market on the vacant parcel on City Center Drive next to Brain Freeze Frozen Yogurt. There’s room for 50 cars to park, and a large area in front of the screen to sit and watch the movie. The farmers market is from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. with the movie starting around 8:30 p.m. Parking for the “drive-in” will open at 5 p.m. This event is made possible by generous local business sponsors.

Saturday:

The Rohnert Park Kitchen Kut-Ups are setting sail for their 39th annual razzle-dazzle “World Cruise.” These talented performers are all local seniors with a desire to perform on stage (or directly below it in the case of the band). Come and check them out either today or on July 12, 14, or 16.

If you go: Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. The show starts at 1 p.m. at , located at 5409 Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park.

Sunday:

Celebrate Japanese culture at the 57th Annual Teriyaki Barbecue and Bazaar. This event features Teriyaki, Ikebana, Bonsai and Taiko. The first public Japanese barbecue fundraiser Enmanji’s, is considered by many to be the grandfather of Bay Area teriyaki barbecues. Other available delicacies include imagawa yaki (sweeten bean-filled pastry), sushi, and kushi yaki. In addition to the barbecue, there will be a bonsai display by the Redwood Empire Bonsai Society, Ikebana flower arranging demonstration and sale, and an extensive outdoor plant sale. Martial arts demonstrations and two afternoon Taiko performances by Sonoma County Taiko will take place between 12:30PM and 4PM. Proceeds from the barbecue and plant sales will support Enmanji Buddhist Temple community activities.

If you go: There's a free admission and the teriyaki chicken barbecue is $11.  The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Enmanji Buddhist Temple, 1200 Gravenstein Hwy in Sebastopol.

Sunday:

The 10th Annual Art & Garden Festival takes place today showcasing local art and crafts, horticulture, fine wines, tasty brews and delicious food. In addition, a children’s play area will be available with games, face painting, seed planting, a jumpy castle and more. Live music by Tommy Castro, Zebop, Luvplanet, and D’Bunchovus will have you dancing in the streets.

If you go: The festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4th Street and Kentucky Street in Petaluma.
