Rohnert Park Weekend Planner: Aug. 19-21

From a 19-hole scramble and Willy Wonka to an outdoor movie and an accordion fest, we've got you covered this weekend.

Friday:  

and Rancho Cotati host their annual “Day on the Green” with a 19-hold scramble, putting contest, refreshments, gourmet dinner and awards. Additionally, there will be a live auction that includes a week stay in the Bahamas, a hot air balloon ride, and a romantic dinner and night’s stay in Napa.

If you go: Tickets are $99 (includes golf, beverages out on the course and dinner) and can be bought by clicking here. Check in and registration is from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. the shotgun start is at 1:30 p.m. and the dinner, awards and auction is from 6:30 -9 p.m.at the , 100 Golf Course Drive in Rohnert Park.

Friday:

It’s that time of year when the market is chock full of ripe summer veggies and fruit. Tonight’s Party on the Plaza features Mad Maggies, seven musicians who play roots-driven, rowdy folk fusion with a dash of hot pepper and, of course an accordion (just getting you ready).

If you go: The market and party is open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the City Center Plaza, 500 City Center Drive in Rohnert Park. Don’t forget your canvas or reusable bags!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

For years, this wonderful story has inspired children and adults alike. The movie version starring Gene Wilder is a classic. It's back again, only this time it's live on stage, bigger and better than ever, with more songs and dances, dozens of Oompa-Loompas, candy contraptions, fizzy lifting drinks and a flying Wonkavator. What could be better than that?

If you go: Tickets are $24 general admission, $22 for senior/military; $20 for youth; $12 (12 and under). Friday’s show is at 8 p.m., Saturday has two shows, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m  and Sunday’s matinee is at 2 p.m. For tickets call 707-588-3400. The performance is at , 5409 Snyder Lane in Rohnert Park.

Friday:

This summer, Brain Freeze Frozen Yogurt is having a family fun outdoor movie extravaganza! Tonight’s movie is Despicable Me. Enjoy some dinner, shopping and fun at the market, then finish your night with this fun outdoor movie. Get there a little early to park your car, "drive-in" style or find the perfect place for your blanket and chair.

If you go: This free movie event takes place following the on the vacant parcel on City Center Drive next to Brain Freeze Frozen Yogurt. There’s room for 50 cars to park, and a large area in front of the screen to sit and watch the movie. The farmers market is from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. with the movie starting around 8:30 p.m. Parking for the “drive-in” will open at 5 p.m. This event is made possible by generous local business sponsors.

Saturday and Sunday:

If an accordion falls outside of Cotati does it make a sound? Of course not...they're all here! The 21st Cotati Accordion Festival is a multi-cultural, multi-generational, musical extravaganza held in La Plaza Park in Cotati. Over thirty acts will be featured along with films, workshops, polka and Zydeco dancing, lessons, arts and crafts vendors and four stages of blazing accordions that include tango, Russian, Klezmer, punk, Irish and more. Are you ready to party with the best accordion players out there? Bring your accordion to play in the Lady of Spain-a-Ring. In support of our local vendors, outside food and drink is not permitted.

If you go: Tickets are $15 in advance, $25 for both days, and $17 at the gate. The event is from 9:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.at La Plaza Park, corner of Old Redwood Highway and West Sierra Avenue in Cotati.
