Still a Loyal Fan?

Since I last left, the season finale of the Newsroom has aired and the critics have published their reviews, both the good and the bad. I was a little worried how the second season would pan out and whether it would leave me inspired like the first season, or if the series would become too depressing or too "over-the-top".  So to answer the question I posed, am I still a loyal fan…? You betcha!

This second season stood out because of everything that was "over-the-top" and dramatic. It seemed to mimic the reality of politics in our country and if anything, I was always left with a smidgen of hope that at least these fictional characters could figure out a solution to a problem that we still can’t fix today.

With that said, I am going to warn you that there may be a few spoilers if you haven’t seen this season’s finale.

Kimberly Roots of “TV Line” compared this season finale to a musical. I agree. It was powerful, passionate and a tad corny with more highs and lows than you can count. However, if you are like me, and enjoy fully amercing yourself in shows, this episode transported their audience on a ride, it was quite the roller coaster.

From the beginning, the two hour finale was fast paced and dramatic. The show transported the views to election night in 2008,  Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney.  Through shocking reveals and cliffhanger moments the show culminated with the win of Senator Obama, now President Obama.

I had three favorite moments throughout this episode and I found myself literally cheering as the show progressed. First, was the kiss between Sloan and Don, which had been long awaited and was a humorous well-crafted scene that left me wanting more.

Second, was Mackenzie and Will ‘s engagement, and can I just say, “Finally”! I was so hoping that they were going to get back together throughout this season. They made it a memorable moment in the series, and in my opinion not corny at all.

Last, was an inspiring moment when the senior producers refused to leave the show. They weren’t jumping at the chance to save their reputation and flee, but instead they stayed loyal to their producer and anchor.

The third season has been approved and I am now anxiously waiting to see how the tale will continue.
