Poet Alice Notley at SSU

Renowned poet Alice Notley, one of America’s most engaging and crucial poets, will be reading from her work on Thursday, Nov. 29 at Sonoma State University's Green Music Center. 

Notley is the author of more than 30 books of poetry including The Scarlet Cabinet (with Douglas Oliver, 1992); Homer's Art (1990); At Night the States (1988); Parts of a Wedding (1986); Margaret and Dusty (1985); and Sorrento (1984). She has won numerous awards, including the Griffin International Poetry Prize.

In addition to the Marshall and Griffin prizes, Notley has received the Los Angeles Times Book Award for Poetry, an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Shelley Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America.

A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, Notley is often identified as a prominent member of the eclectic second generation of The New York School.

Notley comes to Sonoma State University as a part of the Writers at Sonoma literary series. Event starts at 7pm.
